Global warming means our Earth is getting hotter day by day. It is a serious problem for all living things.
The main reason for global warming is air pollution. People burn coal, petrol and diesel to run cars, factories and for electricity. Burning these things releases harmful gases like Carbon Dioxide (CO2). These gases form a thick blanket in the sky. This blanket traps the heat of the sun and makes the Earth warmer. This process is called the Greenhouse Effect.
Global warming has many bad effects. First, the ice at the North and South Poles is melting very fast. Because of this, the water in the sea is rising. Many low islands and coastal cities can go underwater in the future.
Second, the weather is changing. Some places get too much rain and floods, while other places get no rain and become very dry. It also causes more heatwaves.
Third, it is harmful for animals and plants. Many animals are losing their homes.
We can still stop global warming. We should plant more trees because trees clean the air. We should use bicycles and public buses instead of cars. We should use solar energy and wind energy. We should save electricity and not waste things.
