Types of Subject in a Sentence
Subject = The person/thing "about whom" the sentence is talking. It does the action of the verb.
1. Simple Subject - Single Noun or Pronoun
1. Riya sings well.
2. Birds fly in the sky.
3. He is my brother.
4. Sun rises in the east.
5. Water boils at 100°C.
6. She loves music.
7. Children play cricket.
8. Rain falls from clouds.
9. I study daily.
10. Teacher explains clearly.

15. They are happy.
2. Compound Subject - 2 or more subjects joined by and/or
1. Rahul and Sita are dancing.
2. My mother and father love me.
3. Cats and dogs are pets.
4. He or she will win the prize.
5. Pen, pencil and eraser are on the table.
6. Riya, Amit and I are friends.
7. Rice and dal is my favorite food.
8. Either Ram or Shyam will come.
9. The teacher and students went to picnic.
10. Bread and butter is good for breakfast.
11. You and your sister sing beautifully.
12. Delhi and Mumbai are big cities.

3. Pronoun Subject - I, You, He, She, It, We, They

4. Gerund Subject - Verb + ing used as noun
1. Swimming is good exercise.

8. Playing builds team spirit.

5. Infinitive Subject - To + Verb
1. To err is human.
